Do I need a visa for Türkiye?
It depends on your passport, your purpose and the date — and the rules change. Here is where to check officially, and what we confirm before you book.
Why there is no country list on this page
A visa page that lists countries is out of date the week after it is written, and a wrong line here does not cost us anything — it leaves a guest standing at an airport. So this page does one thing instead: it points you at the source that is authoritative on the day you read it, and tells you what we check with you before you commit to a booking.
Three things decide the answer, and all three are yours: which passport you hold, why you are travelling, and the date you travel. A rule that applies to tourism may not apply to any other purpose.
Where to check
The authoritative source is the consular portal of the Republic of Türkiye’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at konsolosluk.gov.tr, which carries the visa information and pre-application sections for foreign nationals. Your nearest Turkish embassy or consulate is the other official route.
One warning that is worth thirty seconds of your time. Addresses circulating online as “the Turkish e-visa portal” do not all lead where their name suggests; at the time of writing, at least one widely quoted address forwards visitors to a commercial site that is not a government domain. Before you enter any personal data or pay any fee, check that the address really is a .gov.tr government domain and that the page belongs to the Ministry. Commercial intermediaries can charge several times the official fee for filling in the same form.
One recent change, with its legal reference
We name this one because it is recent enough that older pages elsewhere still contradict it, and because it can be pinned to a published legal instrument rather than a summary.
- Chinese ordinary passports. A visa exemption took effect on 2 January 2026 under Presidential Decision no. 10798, published in the Official Gazette of 31 December 2025 (issue 33124, 5th repeated). The exemption covers travel for tourism purposes and transit — it does not extend to other purposes of travel.

Before anything is paid, we go through your situation with you: the passport you will actually travel on, the purpose that matches your programme, and the dates. If your entry status is not clear, we say so plainly instead of assuming, and we put the answer in writing with the offer.
